Maygest, an old arthritic thief, who has been conning people for the last decade, finds his career destroyed when the war-like lords of Osskrip temporarily unite to eradicate all the thieving towns. With no place to go and no way to retire, Maygest decides to do one last con job. His plans, however, are dashed when he discovers that he has a son. Suddenly, what seemed important doesn’t matter anymore, and they (Maygest, his son, his adopted daughter, and an old friend), instead, set off in search of a mythical harp that is said will bring peace to the land that desperately needs it.
