Life Interrupted, Dr. Dua’s Survival Guide
Portraits of Childfree Wealth
Have you ever wondered what people without children do with all their free time and money? Do you assume that they must have a lot of both? The truth is more complex than that! Childfree people come from as many different backgrounds and life circumstances as people with children do. Some are partnered, and some are not. Some are well-educated, some aren’t. Some are independently wealthy, and some are just scraping by. Dr. Zigmont’s “Portraits of Childfree Wealth” is a collection of 26 vignettes based on interviews with Childfree people. He adds his own significant insights, as both a fellow Childfree professional and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™. This book is an eye-opening look at the lives of people in the United States who deliberately chose not to become parents, and if you’re in the same boat, you’ll find a lot to relate to here. If you have children, you’ll learn how the other half lives. And if you’re a finance professional, you’ll see how money still plays a role for people who don’t have to worry about leaving assets to their children.
In Portraits of Childfree Wealth, Dr. Jay Zigmont, CFP®, interviews 26 individuals and couples to understand their lives. Each portrait provides a different perspective on Childfree Wealth from a diverse population across the US. There are stories from people who are barely making ends meet and others who have achieved FIRE (Financial Independence, Retire Early) or FILE (Financial Independence, Live Early). Being Childfree does not automatically make people rich, as we still suffer from income disparities. The difference is that if a Childfree person is barely making ends meet now, they would have drowned if they had a child.
Some key findings:
• The reasons for being Childfree are as varied as the people themselves.
• There are very few or no regrets from people being Childfree.
• Being Childfree does not automatically make you rich.
• There is a relationship between growing up in poverty and poor and being Childfree.
• Childfree Financial Independence is simple: 1. Get out of debt 2. Max out retirement plans.

THE LAST SELF HELP BOOK that you will ever need to be happy
What kind of supreme arrogance allows someone to call their book “The Last Self Help Book: that you will ever need.” It is a catchy title, isn’t it? Maybe it will grab people’s attention. And, what if, it happened to be true? Or at least some part of it turned out to be true? The whole book, in one way or another, is working on the same premise: Control physiological arousal levels so we can be relatively free of most mental illnesses, anxiety, depression and be happy. Dr. Miller’s experience and multiple studies quoted in the book find that depression almost always precedes periods of high tension and anxiety.
Chapter One defines stress and provides multiple ways to reduce tension/stress to be happy. A chapter on parenting that repeatedly shows how anger and harshness drastically compromises the potential for success in children; how to be nice to your kids and still get them to do whatever you want. Want to solve America’s drug problems? See chapter “Teen Rescue.” The Anger Management chapter tells you step-by-step how to turn yourself and other people in your world into nice guys (and girls or ladies). There are two chapters on how to use fantasy in therapy, harking back to millennia-old story-telling techniques.
In the chapter on “Pain” is tension reduction that will reduce pain levels. Ahhh, sleep. The many dangers of not getting enough sleep, are discussed in the Insomnia chapter, along with ways of adding to restful snooze times. Then there is the formula for stopping procrastination. Finally, a chapter on love and some secret reasons (yes, pheromones) why it happens. Dr. Miller wants to apologize in advance for the repetitions. You may read different variations of what the devices in lie detectors do, what we can learn from the measure of tension. Please look at these repetitions here and there, as a way to review some of the important lessons of tension control. It will often be the same advice in different words. Hopefully, repetition will help some concepts stick in your brain better. You may get tired of the “apologize” recommendation for so many different situations, especially anger management. But it turns out this is a very powerful defusing technique and allows you to spend zero time with obnoxious people.
This book includes and ties together information from multiple disciplines including anthropology, neuro-anatomy, various facets of Eastern religion including Zen, biology, physiology, biophysics, chemistry, social science, geology, archeology, meteorology, zoology, human biology, cell biology, psychology, astronomy and a few others. It is hoped that multiple perspectives from multiple disciplines will give a broad, and as inclusive as possible, perspective on humanity. $2.99 on Kindle.

Free: The Resilient Nurse Book : A nurse’s guide to building inner strength when helping others is hurting you
How can you truly care for others when you don’t first care for yourself? As nurses, we all experience circumstances that are beyond our control. We feel overwhelmed, stressed, and anxious. But with holistic and comprehensive resilience tools, we can find ways to overcome adversity and maintain a sustainable, healthy balance. Using a framework inspired by George Everly Jr., Dr. Douglas Strouse, and Dr. Dennis K. McCormack, The Resilient Nurse Project employs six pillars of resilience in coaching nurses to recognize, address, and overcome burnout and compassion fatigue. These pillars allow nurses to manage and cope with conflicts, view their challenges strategically, and develop a positive way forward. The Resilient Nurse Book uses each pillar of resilience as a lens to view the personal stories of nurses who demonstrate strength through adversity. Through these tales, readers can learn how to employ valuable resilience techniques and reduce the uncontrollable spiral that might otherwise result from life’s curveballs. In a world of endless responsibilities and high-stress employment, these tools are critical to managing opposing priorities and overcoming the all-too-common trend of putting oneself last. Avoid professional burnout as a nurse by following these strategies, so you can become your best self at work and at home! Free on Kindle.
