Joe Bamberg, former military school cadet and current reporter, is sent out to his old alma mater to cover the untimely and somewhat suspicious death of a cadet. The circumstances remind Joe of a friend of his who committed suicide at the school twenty years ago. Then Joe finds out that maybe his friend didn’t kill himself after all. Small town noir in the big, deep South, this book has plenty of laughs to lighten the load of all the dead bodies. Nonetheless, it’s a book with heart, full of characters permanently changed by grief and trauma. Free on Kindle.
